A man has died after being hit by a car despite paramedics working desperately to save his life.
The 67-year-old man was standing on a footpath when he was struck by a four-wheel drive on The Horsley Drive at Fairfield East in Sydney’s west at 2.50pm on Saturday.
Horrific footage, which is too gruesome to publish, showed the bloodied man lying in the driveway of a home as a police officer performed CPR.

A four-wheel drive ute was also seen next to a broken metal fence in the driveway.
Eventually, six paramedics in three ambulances arrived and took over from the officer, who was left to helplessly look on.
The injured man was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a man aged in his 50s, looked distraught before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.
It is unclear what caused the collision but Sydney was lashed with 13mm of rain since 9am on Saturday, which caused dangerous road conditions.
Police officers then established a crime scene to investigate while traffic piled up on Horsley Drive.
Five police cars, three ambulances and a fire truck attended the scene.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
