Sydney’s coronavirus outbreak spreads 110km to the Blue Mountains as pharmacy worker tests positive

A coronavirus case has been confirmed in the Blue Mountains town of Katoomba, 110km west of Sydney.
The positive case was recorded in a pharmacy worker from the Greenwell and Thomas Pharmacy on Katoomba Street.
The worker was on shift on December 26 and 27.
They were not one of the 18 locally acquired cases of coronavirus reported on Wednesday.
They will be included in Thursday’s numbers.
In a statement posted to Facebook, the pharmacy said customers who visited the store over the weekend should be tested for coronavirus.
‘Anybody that came into the pharmacy on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th December are considered casual contacts and the Department of Health has requested they be Covid-19 and to isolate until they have a negative result,’ the statement said.
A deep clean of the pharmacy has now been undertaken.
‘The Department of Health has advised us on the appropriate steps and the pharmacy has been deep cleaned and we have been advised by the Department of Health that we are able to able,’ the statement said.
The pharmacy reopened at 1pm on Wednesday.
