The Washington Post reported that the group leader Proud Boys Right-wing in the United States, was arrested by Washington DC police on Monday, based on a warrant accusing him of burning the “black lives matter,” sign that was taken from a historic black church during a protest last month, officials said.
Police stopped Enrique Tario in a vehicle he was in after entering Washington, according to a police spokesman. He said he believed Tario, who lives in Miami, had arrived in the county from the airport.
Spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said Tarjo was accused of destroying property linked to the burning of a stolen sign from Asbury United Methodist Church on December 12. Tario told the Washington Post last month that he was among those who burned the sign.
Police also said that Tario, who was arrested Monday evening, is also accused of possessing devices containing high capacity ammunition, but they were not found during his arrest.
And plan members of an organization Proud Boys, A male chauvinist group with links to white nationalism, to rally in Washington on Wednesday, to support President Trump and his efforts to cancel the elections that he lost to Joe Biden.
This comes as the Commander in Chief of the National Guard in Washington, General William Walker, announced that 340 members of the National Guard will from Tuesday until next Thursday provide support to local authorities in the US capital during the expected demonstrations.
Walker added, in a statement, that “this step came in response to the mayor of the city, directors of the Internal Security Agency, and the Emergency Department.”
Washington officials also called on Trump supporters not to bring firearms to the protests, and police chief Robert Conte said: “We have received some information about individuals who intend to bring weapons to our city, which will not be tolerated,” adding that anyone carrying a weapon will be arrested. Or provoke violence.
