“Thousands of North Koreans are gathering at Kim Il-sung Square in Pyongyang, North Korea, to train for a military parade,” the South Korean Yonhap News Agency quoted a spokesman for the agency, Colonel Kim Joon-rak, as saying during a regular press briefing.
The satellite images revealed by the US 38 North site show, thousands of people gathered in the square, organizing a formation, chanting the phrase “Kyul Sa Aung Wei” in Korean, which means “defense with the spirit” according to the 38 North website.
The North held a military parade with ICBMs and other ballistic missiles at Kim Il-Sung Square last October to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers’ Party.
On the other hand, the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Korean Forces said that it believes that the North Korean army will conduct winter exercises from this December, similar to those of past years.
The North Korean army is known to conduct exercises on a smaller scale due to concerns about the spread of the new Corona virus.
