Jailed Salim Mehajer’s embarrassing spelling errors are revealed in court as he fights to get out of jail – while his estranged girlfriend soaks up the sun in a very skimpy bikini
- The former Auburn mayor has been in jail since his bail was revoked in November
- Mehajer on Monday appeared in the District Court for a bail application hearing
- He apologised for spelling errors in his written submissions made from his cell
Former Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer’s embarrassing spelling mistakes have been revealed in court as he tries to represent himself to get out of prison.
The disgraced property developer has been behind bars since his bail was revoked in November after being found guilty of perverting the course of justice and making a false statement on oath.
The 34-year-old launched a bid to strike a deal with police over a restraining order taken out for his now ex-girlfriend Missy Tysoe.
Mehajer on Monday appeared in the District Court for a bail application. He apologised for several spelling errors in his written submissions which he wrote from his Silverwater remand jail cell.

Ms Tysoe has since taken to Instagram to post a series of scantily-clad bikini shots, seemingly unfazed by her ex-boyfriend’s legal troubles
He told Judge Mark Buscombe he didn’t manage to get a lawyer for the hearing after his government-funded Legal Aid came to an end last year.
‘I tried my very best to seek representation for today but I was unsuccessful. I don’t have the expertise to represent myself like a lawyer can,’ he said, according to news.com.au.
‘As you can see in the submissions there are many typographical errors … it’s just very, very juvenile.’
His error-ridden submissions included accusations that Judge Peter Zahra acted with bias, claiming he would be appealing his convictions.
‘It is submitted that His Honour used his position of power to ask the accused over 200 questions while he was under oath giving evidence. The number of questions was unquestionably far-fetched, unwarranted and intimidating for the accused. His Honour took control over the entire cross-examination,’ Mehajer wrote.
Mehajer wrote that he became ‘visibly exhausted and intimidated’ by Mr Zahra’s line of questioning, which he claims bordered on ‘harassment’.
Crown prosecutor Tony McCarthy accused Mehajer of ‘dragging things out’ and said the likelihood of him winning on appeal were slim.
A sentence date was listed for February 12.
Meanwhile, Ms Tysoe appears to have moved on with her life after alleging Mehajer tried to call her from prison to have her restraining order dropped.

The restraining order relates to a series of alleged incidents currently under police investigation, including an alleged assault in October that ended with the 31-year-old seeking medical attention.
Daily Mail Australia understands prosecutors will allege Mehajer breached the order by attempting to call Ms Tysoe from Silverwater jail to ask her to drop the AVO.
Under the terms of the restraining order currently in force, Mehajer is banned from contacting Ms Tysoe whatsoever except via lawyer and from possessing any firearms or prohibited weapons.
Ms Tysoe has since taken to Instagram to post a series of scantily-clad bikini shots, seemingly unfazed by her ex-boyfriend’s legal troubles.
‘I have no need for revenge. I am no longer yours, and that is punishment enough,’ she captioned a recent photo of herself in red lingerie.
