The World Bank said Monday that it will invest more than $ 5 billion over the next five years to help restore biodiversity, improve agricultural productivity and boost livelihoods in 11 African countries as they recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
World Bank President David Malpass said the investment will help improve people’s lives as those countries recover from COVID-19 and deal with the impact of biodiversity loss and climate change.
The bank said in a statement that the funds will benefit the countries of the Sahel, Lake Chad and the Horn of Africa.
